Farm accidents claim the lives of 80 and 3 year-old

September 24, 2007 By admin

Separate farm accidents in Iowa on Sunday claimed the lives of an elderly man and a toddler. A tractor hauling hay rolled over onto its top Sunday morning in Appanoose County, trapping 80-year-old William Kirby of Unionville. Kirby later died at a Centerville hospital.

A boy was also killed Sunday morning. Three-year-old Charles Frymoyer of Moscow died after being run over by an empty grain wagon on a Cedar County farm. As harvest season is gearing up, National Farm Safety Week was held just a week ago, as officials emphasize farming is one of America’s most dangerous professions and that an average of 300 children die on farms nationwide every year.
