Regents executive director taking another job

October 2, 2007 By admin

The executive director of the Iowa Board of Regents is leaving that post at the end of the month. Gary Steinke has been the regents executive director since December 2005. He’s leaving that position to become president of the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.

Steinke will join the Association on November 1, and then become president on January 1. The association’s longtime president John Hartung is retiring at the end of this year. Prior to Steinke’s work with the Board of Regents, he was director of governmental affairs at Iowa State University.
