Tech coach sees improvement in defense

October 2, 2007 By admin

Texas Tech coach Mike Leach felt his defense made progress last week despite taking on an overmatched opponent. The Red Raiders rolled past Northwestern State 75-7, one week after a 49-45 loss at Oklahoma State that resulted in Leach ousting his defensive coordinator.

Leach says the thing that was clear was the excitement and enthusiasm of the players in doing their jobs. Leach says while the defense will face much tougher challenges he felt that unit played the right way. He says playing with emotion and being excited to play was important, and he saw a lot of that.

Tech is 4-1 on the season.
