Drake looks for second PFL win

October 4, 2007 By admin

The Drake bulldogs will look to go 2-0 in the Pioneer Football League race this weekend when they host Butler. The Bulldogs bounced back from a loss to UNI with a big first half enroute to an easy win over Valparaiso.

Drake coach Steve Loney says they got a fast start, which was needed after suffering their first loss of the year. Loney says the win showed they put the loss behind them and are looking to the future. Butler opened conference play with a lopsided loss to the University of San Diego and Loney says they expect to meet a motivated opponent.

Loney says their pride is hurt and they’ll come out fighting. He says you have to expect their best shot, as they’re building the program and sometimes building programs lack consistency. But, Loney says Butler plays hard and will come at Drake with good effort.

Drake is 4-1 overall.
