October 8, 2007 By admin

One person was killed and seven injured in a Sunday afternoon traffic accident in Marshalltown. Ninety-year-old Margaret Heintz of Ames was killed in the accident, which happened at about 3:30 Sunday afternoon on the east side of Marshalltown.

The elderly woman was a passenger in a Dodge Caravan that was struck on the left, passenger side by a GMC Yukon driven by 23-year-old Monica Gonzalez of Marshalltown.

Four others in the minivan that was hit suffered injuries. The driver of the bigger Yukon and a front-seat adult passenger were injured in the wreck. Three children in the Yukon were uninjured. According to the police report, Gonzalez failed to stop at a stop sign. Gonzalez claims her brakes failed. Both vehicles were totaled.
