Over a dozen injured when hay rack ride plunges into quarry

October 15, 2007 By admin

At least 13 people were hurt, including one seriously, in a hay rack ride accident early Sunday in Clinton County. Twenty-three-year-old Bradley Holesinger was hosting the ride and operating the tractor when the tractor slipped over the edge of a quarry and came to rest 30 feet below.

The hayrack, with about 25 riders, also went over the edge and the riders were thrown from the wagon. Two people were airlifted from the scene to Genesis Medical Center in Davenport and one of those was transferred to University Hospital in Iowa City.

Local Mercy hospital officials report eleven people were transported to the emergency room. Seven of those were released after treatment and four were admitted. The incident remains under investigation.
