Drake hopes to bounce back from West Coast loss on trip East

October 18, 2007 By admin

After traveling to the west coast the Drake Bulldogs now get set for a trip to North Carolina when they play Davidson in Pioneer League action. The Bulldogs are looking to bounce back from a 59-19 loss at the University of San Diego and in that game coach Steve Loney’s team committed seven turnovers, including six in the opening half.

Loney says that was kind of a nightmare game, and giving a good team that many turnovers is something that none of them want to go through again. The Bulldogs bounced back with a strong effort after their first loss of the season to UNI and Loney is hoping for a similar result this week.

He says senior leadership and the players are the ones that motivate themselves, and he says they don’t like to lose, so they will come out ready to play. Davidson has used two quarterbacks to direct an offense that relies on the pass.

Loney says they pass the ball a ton, and if they play two quarterbacks, it’s because one of them has a sore arm. He says they’re tough to get pressure on, and it will be a challenge. Drake is 5-2 on the season. Davidson is 3-3.
