One dead in crash near Grinnell

December 21, 2007 By admin

One person is dead after two semi-trucks crashed Thursday morning near Grinnell. The crash took place at the intersection of Highway 6 and Highway 63, about nine miles east of Grinnell at the turn off to Malcom.

An Iowa State Patrol accident report states that a 1996 Freightliner driven by 41-year-old Keith Rowe of Houston, Texas was northbound on 63 and failed to yield the right of way. A 2001 International driven by 59-year-old Laverne Roth of Chelsea, Iowa was eastbound on Highway 6 when it crashed into the first semi-truck. Roth was killed. Rowe was uninjured. The accident remains under investigation.
