Trooper loses control crashes into another car

January 17, 2008 By admin

An Iowa State Patrol trooper was among three people who escaped a head-on accident with only minor injures Wednesday afternoon near Cedar Falls. Officials say Trooper Kyle Haack lost control of his patrol car on ice-covered U.S. Highway 20 at the Iowa 58 underpass.

The cruiser crossed the median and collided with an on-coming sport utility vehicle, driven by Wayne Johanson of Blue Grass. According to the accident report, Haack was changing lanes to avoid merging traffic when he lost control of his vehicle. Haack, Johanson, and a passenger in the S-U-V were all transported to two nearby hospitals. The crash delayed traffic for a short time, but resulted in no major injuries.
