Iowa holds onto first with a win over Michigan State

February 8, 2008 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeye women held on to a share of first place in the Big Ten race with an 82-64 win over Michigan State in Iowa City. It was the Hawkeye’s seventh consecutive win. Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says it was a nice win and fun and now they look ahead to getting eight in a row.

Bluder says defense was a big factor in the outcome. The Spartans hit just 37 percent from the field, including only three of 17 from three point range. She says the defense to begin the second half was really good, and they again outrebounded their opponent.

Iowa is 9-3 in the Big Ten and 16-7 overall.
