King keeps heat on, despite McCain request

March 16, 2008 By admin

Republican presidential candidate John McCain last week asked his supporters to stay away from "overheated rhetoric and personal attacks" after Iowa Congressman Steve King and others received media attention for focusing on Democratic candidate Barack Obama’s middle name — Hussein. But this weekend, King kept up the heat, standing by his assertion that the terrorists "will be dancing in the streets" if Obama wins in November.

"I have made a statement that’s utterly true and I stand by it and I have yet to find a public-profile person that will disagree with me and pledge to apologize if I’m right," King said during an interview with KICD in Spencer.

King campaigned with Fred Thompson in the days before the Iowa Caucuses and found against the immigration reform effort led, in part, by John McCain.

Mark Bruggom of KICD in Spencer contributed to this report.
