School bus slides into ditch near Rowley, no serious injuries

March 28, 2008 By admin

A school bus crashed in northeast Iowa during Thursday’s spring snowstorm. Slushy road conditions are being cited as a factor in a school bus accident near Rowley. It happened just before 4 P.M. Thursday, near the intersection of Buchanan County Road D-47 and Iowa Avenue, three miles west of Rowley.

An Independence Community School bus was rounding a corner, when it got too close to the shoulder, and slid onto its side into a ditch. There were 15 students on the bus. Four of them were examined at the site. The rest, along with the bus driver, were taken by another bus to the Independence hospital to be checked over. All were then released. No one was seriously injured.
