Mason City soldier injured in Iraq

April 24, 2008 By admin

A Mason City soldier was injured this week while serving in Iraq. Twenty-three-year-old U.S. Army Private First Class Donald Barr suffered multiple injuries after the vehicle he was riding in struck a roadside bomb near Samara. Barr was ejected from the vehicle and suffered a broken jaw, ruptured ear drum, and other bumps and bruises.

Barr was taken to a hospital in Germany and was awaiting a flight back to the United States. Barr is a 2002 graduate of Rockford Senior High School who has been serving in Iraq since September, and had just returned to Iraq after being home on leave after the birth of his second son.
