Drake softball team playing for tourney seed

May 2, 2008 By admin

The Drake softball team will be battling for seeding in the upcoming Missouri Valley Conference tournament when they host Wichita State in a three game series beginning on Saturday. The Bulldogs are 11-9 in the league race and currently sit in fourth place.

Drake coach Rich Calvert says 3 through 7 is up for grabs and you could finish high or drop to the bottom. A year ago, rain prevented the Bulldogs from playing for a spot in the conference tournament. They had their last game canceled and they didn’t have a chance to get the last spot as Indiana State finished percentage points above them.

Calvert says the Bulldogs are happy to already have a spot locked up, as they have since been able to play for seeding. The Bulldogs are 24-23 overall.
