Two die in Franklin County accident

Two people were killed, three hurt, in a two-vehicle crash in Franklin County on Sunday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol reported that a westbound 1995 Ford F-150 pickup driven by 47-year-old Frank Teske of Ackley struck a southbound 2002 GMC Sierra pickup driven by 42-year-old Brian Benson of Aplington at the uncontrolled intersection.

Fatally injured in the accident were Brian Benson and 63-year-old Richard Ball of Ackley. They were life flighted to a nearby hospital where they died of their injuries. Ball was a passenger in the Teske vehicle. The injured were Frank Teske and his passenger 24-year-old Roger Zweck of Aplington. Also injured was 12-year-old Tim Ball of Ackley who was a passenger in the Teske pickup. They were taken to Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and the Franklin and the Butler County Sheriff Departments.
