Ida Grove company laying off 80 employees

October 17, 2008 By admin

A company in northwest Iowa is laying off more than one-quarter of its workforce. Officials with Midwest Industries in Ida Grove blame the struggling economy for the decision to layoff 80 employees.

The company, which had 280 people on the payroll, makes marine products such as boat trailers, boat hoists and docks. The workers impacted by the decision perform everything from production to administrative duties.

Midwest Industries president and C.E.O. Andy Brosius says the recreational marine industry has been hit especially hard by the struggling U.S. economy.
