High school wrestling season gets underway

December 2, 2008 By admin

The high school wrestling season starts with a bang tonight as two of the top teams in Class 1-A meet in Belle Plaine. Three time defending state 1-A champion Don Bosco tangles with the Plainsmen who placed 6th in the traditional state tournament last year.

Belle Plaine coach Bob Yilek will be leaning upon a squad that features ten seniors. He says they been together for a long time from little kids until now and he says that has allowed them to provide outstanding leadership.

Yilek looks forward to this season opening match-up. He says it’s just a test to see where they are and what they need to work on to get better and reach their peak in February. The double dual at Belle Plaine also involves Gladbrook-Reinbeck/North Tama.
