Drake looks to bounce back from loss to UNI

January 20, 2009 By admin

Drake is 4-3 in the Valley and will be on the road Wednesday night to take on Missouri State. Bulldog coach Mark Phelps is confident his team will bounce back after a lopsided loss to UNI at home. Phelps says they had a great practice and learned a lot, so he doesn’t expect any problems with coming back.

Phelps says there is no way to brush off Saturday’s loss as just “one of those days.” He says they didn’t play well at home, didn’t play well against an in-state rival in a conference game, but they have moved toward getting back to playing good basketball.

Missouri State is only 1-6 in conference play and Drake won the first matchup with the Bears in Des Moines. Phelps says they have their best player back, who didn’t play in the first game. Drake is 13-6 overall.
