Electrolux moving jobs out of Webster City

January 21, 2009 By admin

A company is moving dozens of jobs from north-central Iowa to Mexico and Texas. Eighty-five workers at Webster City’s Electrolux Central Vacuum Systems received word today that they will be out of a job by the end of the year.

Company officials announced that the plant’s production and distribution operations will relocate to the existing Electrolux Floor Care products plant in Juarez, Mexico and the company’s large international distribution center in neighboring El Paso, Texas. The move is part of the Electrolux Floor Care global initiative to consolidate operations.

A sales and administrative staff of about 40 employees will remain in Webster City. The announcement does not affect the Electrolux laundry facility in Webster City.
