Scranton man dies in accident

June 1, 2009 By admin

A two-car crash last night in rural Greene County claimed the life of a Scranton man. The crash occurred just before 10 p.m. at the intersections of Highway E-53 and I-Avenue.

The Iowa State Patrol says a car driven by 54-year-old James Walker of Scranton failed to yield and struck another car driven by 18-year-old Hannah Marie Kitt of Jefferson.

Both vehicles entered the ditch. Authorities say Walker, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was killed in the crash when his car rolled and started on fire. Kitt was transported to the Greene County Medical Center where she was treated and released.
