A central Iowa man is dead after the car he was driving veered off of Interstate 80 in southwestern Iowa’s Cass County and ended-up in a ditch.

The Iowa State Patrol says 51-year-old Raymond Schlicher, Junior, of Carlisle, died at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic following the accident, which occurred at around 6:30 P.M. Sunday.

Officials say Schlicher’s 2010 Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound on I-80 when it suddenly crossed the median and westbound lanes of traffic, entered the north ditch, and spun around before coming to rest. The accident, which remains under investigation, happened about two-miles east of the Anita exit.
