Two motorcylists killed in accidents

August 2, 2010 By Matt Kelley

Two motorcyclists were killed in separate crashes this weekend in the state. Authorities say a man from George was killed when his motorcycle struck a cow standing in the road in Lyon County in northwest Iowa.

Fifty-one-year-old Theodore Ray Smith hit the animal on county road L-22 around 11:30 Saturday night. Another man was killed in northeast Iowa Sunday evening when he lost control of his motorcycle which entered a ditch off Highway 9 about 10 miles northeast of Waukon.

The Allamakee County Sheriff’s office reports the accident happened just before 9 p.m. The victim’s name has not been released.
