Nebraska driver dies in crash on I-29 in Mills County

September 20, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A driver from Nebraska died in an accident on I-29 in Mills County today. The Iowa State Patrol says 74-year-old John Agnew of Omaha, Nebraska was southbound in a 2008 GMC pickup on I-29 in the head-to-head construction zone, and for unknown reasons, decided to pull onto the shoulder and attempted a u-turn.

He was struck in a t-bone style collision by a Mack semi driven by 37-year-old Ruben Monge of Omaha on the driver’s side. The pickup came to rest in the grassy portion on the northbound shoulder. The semi came to rest in the middle of the roadway. John died at the scene.
