Bicyclist killed in Poweshiek County accident

October 7, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A bicyclist from Oregon was killed in an accident with a truck Wednesday afternoon in east-central Iowa’s Poweshiek County. The Iowa State Patrol reports that 33-year-old Jason Lee Morris of Albany, Oregon, was eastbound on Highway 85 about three miles east of Montezuma around noon, when an eastbound truck driven by 51-year-old Michael Jantzen of Tama attempted to pass him.

Jantzen says he straddled the center line to give Morris room, and his right front tire blew out, causing the truck to pull hard to the right, hit Morris and roll into the ditch.
