Bones found near Sioux City called “very old”

October 22, 2010 By Radio Iowa Contributor

An investigation of human bones found Tuesday near Sioux City is closed. A forensic anthropologist from Kansas State University, Dr. Michael Finnegan, Thursday helped excavate an area outside a house where bones were found by a contractor putting in water lines.

Plymouth County Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo says the bones were identified as those of a very old male that had been at the site for a very long time. The forensic anthropologist told authorities the bones no longer have any forensic or criminal value.
