The Iowa football team’s top wide receiver made an initial court appearance on drug charges this morning. Twenty-three-year-old Derrell Johnson-Koulianos was charged Tuesday with possession of prescription drugs, cocaine, marijuana and keeping a drug house.

His roommate, 21-year-old Brady Cooper Johnson, is also facing charges after police raided their Iowa City home. Johnson-Koulianos was released from jail after posting $8,000 bond. The senior, nicknamed DJK, is Iowa’s career leader in receptions and receiving yardage, and scored 10 touchdowns this season.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz has suspended Johnson-Koulianos from all team-related activities indefinitely. A judge this morning read the charges Johnson-Koulianos is facing and the potential fines and sentences accompanying each charge. Afterward, DJK did not speak with reporters outside the courtroom and left with his attorney, John Beasley.
