Charges filed in November crash that killed Urbandale teen

December 21, 2010 By Matt Kelley

An Urbandale High School student is facing a felony charge of homicide by vehicle for a fatal traffic crash last month. Eighteen-year-old Nicholas Donahoe was booked into the Polk County Jail today. He then posted bond and was released.

The charge of homicide by vehicle, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, stems from a one car crash south of Ankeny on the morning of November 18. Deputies say Donahoe was driving a 1998 Camaro that rolled several times.

A passenger in the car, 17-year-old Steven Lollman of Urbandale, was killed. Investigators suspect Donahoe was driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed. The speed limit in the area is 55 miles an hour.
