Drake women beat Illinois State

February 18, 2011 By Todd Kimm

Kristin Turk scored 26 points as the Drake women beat Illinois State 67-58 in Des Moines to snap the Redbirds seven game win streak. The Bulldogs improved to 7-7 in Missouri Valley Conference play.

Drake coach Amy Stephens on her post game show on KRNT in Des Moines said they had to win the game to finish in the upper half of the conference. The Bulldogs survived a nearly six minute dry spell in the second half as they won for the fourth time in their last five games.

Stephens says Illinois State missed some shots too, and they were able to keep their composure and that allowed them to stay in the game.

Drake is now 13-12 overall
