Teen charged with making bomb threat in Storm Lake

May 6, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

An arrest has been made as Storm Lake police investigate bomb threats made this week at two schools. On Wednesday morning, a bomb threat was reported at the Storm Lake Middle School. Law enforcement and school officials evacuated students to a nearby church and locked down an adjacent elementary school while the building was searched.

The building was cleared and students were returned shortly before noon. About an hour later, a bomb threat was reported at the Storm Lake High School. The school and the adjacent Iowa Central Community College building were evacuated. Once the building was declared safe, students were returned to class.

On Wednesday afternoon, a 14-year-old Storm Lake boy was charged with terroristic threats,  in connection with the middle school bomb threat.
