Cedar Falls and CR Wash meet in the UNI-Dome

November 4, 2011 By Radio Iowa Contributor

In Class 4A fifth ranked Cedar Falls takes on Cedar Rapids Washington in Kingston Stadium. The Tigers venture away from the UNI-Dome for the first and only time this postseason, as a win tonight will send them right back inside for their semifinal matchup.

Cedar Falls has made the semis in three of the last six seasons, the last time being three years ago when they beat Washington to advance to the state final. Tiger co-head coach Brad Remmert says Washington has adopted a more traditional offensive look than what they had in that 2008 game.

Remmert says they are not as wide open a team as they were in the past. He says they mix in a lot of play action and come right at you.

On defense, Tiger co-head coach Pat Mitchell says Washington is very strong on their defensive front. He says they have three returning three-year starters up front that are big and rugged.

Mitchell says that with just four days to prepare for tonight’s contest, his team may still be installing parts of the game plan right up until kickoff. He says they put things in right up to pregame warm up.
