Three injured in northeast Iowa accident

A two-car accident near Waverly sent three people to the hospital, including an Iowa State Patrol trooper. The accident happened just before 5 P.M. Wednesday near the intersection of Bremer County Roads C-33 and V-14.

Those roads are being used as a detour for Iowa Highway 3. The state trooper involved in the crash has been identified as Chuck McNally of Cedar Falls. He was taken to the Waverly Medical Center, as was the driver of the other car, Eugene Walther of Waverly.

A passenger, identified as Verjean Walther, was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City by helicopter. Their conditions are not known at this time. Details of what caused the crash have not been released.
