Estherville woman’s body recovered from East Lake Okoboji

June 11, 2012 By Radio Iowa Contributor

The body of an Estherville woman who drowned in East Lake Okoboji early Sunday has been recovered. Shortly after 1:50 A.M. Sunday, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a person missing from a boat in East Lake Okoboji.

Lakes area search and rescue teams responded to a boat ramp in Okoboji. At approximately 6:45 AM, while search operations were underway, crews conducting a shoreline search discovered the body of 26-year-old Jennifer Johnson of Estherville, in an area west of Chalstrom Beach.

An investigation into the incident concluded that Johnson was swimming from a boat with others when she disappeared.
