Council Bluffs pedestrian hit and killed by car

August 23, 2012 By Matt Kelley

A Council Bluffs woman was hit by a car and killed about 7:30 this morning in that southwest Iowa city. Council Bluffs Police Sergeant Bob Sellers says sunglare was likely a factor.

“A young lady was driving up the hill,” Sergeant Sellers says. “The sun was down and probably right in her eyes. She didn’t see (the pedestrian) and hit her.” The victim died at the scene. Sellers says the accident is still under investigation.

“We don’t know if speed was involved or anything else,” he says. “There’s a lot of things they have to consider but at this point, it looks like it was just — the sun was in her eyes.” No names were released.
