Two police officers shot in North Liberty, few details released

March 11, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Few details are being released about a shooting last night in North Liberty that injured two police officers. It happened just after 6 p.m. at the Holiday Lodge Mobile Home Park. The two officers, who have not been identified, were shot after responding to a domestic dispute. The officers’ injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

People who live in the area, including Alexandria Curry, watched as nearly two dozen police vehicles responded to the scene.

“This is crazy. This is madness,” Curry said. After the officers were shot, there was an apparent standoff.

Authorities have not said how the standoff ended or whether anyone else was hurt or taken into custody. North Liberty resident Gabrielle Cronbaugh wasn’t overly surprised by the incident – saying the mobile home park has a history with law enforcement.

“They’re always in there. Every single night I see a cop driving around in there,” Cronbaugh said. Investigators were on the scene through most of the night and said additional information about the incident would be released later today.
