Update: three officers shot, shooter dead in North Liberty

Johnson County officials have released more information on the police shooting in North Liberty. The report says officers were called just before 6 o’clock to a mobile home on Holliday Lodge Road on the report of a domestic disturbance.

The Sheriff’s Department says North Liberty officers arrived on scene within three minutes of the call. Officers made contact with a female victim and 28-year-old Taleb Hussein Yousef Salameh. The report says: “During the interaction gunshots were exchanged between officers and Salemeh. Salameh died at the scene. Three officers were struck by gunfire rounds from Salameh and were transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.”

The officers involved were treated and released. The woman was not injured in the exchange of gunfire and nobody else was in the mobile home at the time of the incident.

The officers have been put on paid administrative leave according to department policy in shootings. The names of the officers are not being released at this time pending the investigation.

And autopsy is planned on Salameh’s body at at the University Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
