Drake basketball practice facility moving ahead

June 24, 2013 By Todd Kimm

New Drake basketball coach Ray Giacoletti believes the school will have a practice facility open before the start of the 2014. Giacoletti was named the new coach in March and has been helping to raise funds for the project.

He says it will be attached to the north end of the Knapp Center where the Bulldogs play their games. “Basically it’ll be two practice gyms, one for the men and one for the women, and in the middle a set of lockerrooms and a film room. It’s a 7 million dollar project,” Giacoletti says.

Giacoletti says 4.2-million has been raised for the project and construction will start in August or September and take 9 months to build. He says the 24-7 access will help both the men and women to improve their games.

Giacoletti says he is also working to finish the Bulldog’s non conference schedule for the upcoming season as he says he was trying to fill in the schedule once he got on board.
