Wartburg and Simpson meet with Iowa Conference lead on the line

November 7, 2013 By Todd Kimm

With two weeks remaining, Wartburg and Simpson are tied at the top of the Iowa Conference football standings. Wartburg closes out is home season on Saturday against Central College. “It’s always good when you can control you own destiny. Our guys are excited about that opportunity,” Wartburg coach Rick Willis says. The Knights beat Simpson so they own the tie breaker when it comes to the division three national playoffs.

Willis says they expect a tough game against a Central team that has lost two league games by a total of six points. He says the league is very balanced and that means you have to be ready for every game, because any play could determine the outcome of the game.

Simpson is two victories away from earning at least a share of its first league title since 1997. Coach Jim Glogowski’s team is at home against Buena Vista. “To have a chance to say we are conference champs has been our goal all along and if that happens because we win two games then that happens, but if we lose on Saturday, it all goes for naught,” Glogowski says.

After starting 0-6 Buena Vista enters the game after back-to-back lopsided wins.
