Cedar Rapids man charged with attempted murder

November 12, 2013 By Matt Kelley

Cedar Rapids Police have arrested a man they accuse of being involved in an assault and firing shots at an officer. Twenty-one-year-old Christopher Forbes is facing a variety of charges, including attempted murder.

Forbes is accused of breaking into a room at the Inn Circle Family Resource Center early this morning and assaulting two people. Police responded and became involved in a chase with Forbes, who crashed his car and ran away. Police said the Forbes fired two shots in the direction of an officer during the foot chase, but the officer was not injured. A police dog helped locate Forbes, who was taken into custody at 4:30 this morning.

In addition to attempted murder, police say Forbes is charged with first-degree burglary, assault domestic abuse with injury, carrying weapons, and felony attempting to elude.
