Eagle Grove man arrested after standoff with police

A 41-year-old Eagle Grove man is in the Wright County Jail in Clarion after a standoff with police Monday. Eagle Grove Police were called to 115 North Cadwell at about 1:29 p.m. to investigate a report of a barricaded subject.

Law officers from the Wright County Sheriff’s Department, Clarion Police and the Iowa State Patrol assisted Eagle Grove Police entered a standoff with David Verba. Monday’s standoff forced the Eagle Grove High School into a lockdown for precautionary measures to its close proximity to the scene. Verba surrendered peacefully to authorities two and a half hours later.

There were no injuries reported. Verba has been charged with three counts of assault with a bond set at $2000.
