Two dead in fire near Mt. Pleasant

February 20, 2014 By Radio Iowa Contributor

A deadly mobile home explosion and fire is under investigation in southeast Iowa. The Henry County Sheriff’s office says two adults were found dead inside a trailer that exploded Wednesday south of Mt. Pleasant.

Fire and emergency crews were called about 5 P.M. after a resident in the area reported hearing and loud boom and then seeing flames. The trailer was fully engulfed and several fire departments were needed to battle the blaze.

The victims’ identities have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The State Fire Marshall’s office is assisting with an investigation. The sheriff’s office did not indicate the cause of the explosion and fire.
