Hawkeyes in final week of spring football practice

April 21, 2014 By Todd Kimm

As the Iowa football team enters the final week of spring drills the situation at quarterback is much different than it was a year ago. Last spring, Jake Rudock and C.J. Beatherd were part of a three way battle for the job. Coming off last season they are a solid one and two for the Hawkeyes.

“Jake has more experience right now, but it’s still a situation where both guys have to be at their best,” Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says. He says they are bringing Nate Shimonek along to and he says they are all good guys and they tell all the players that their positions are always open and it’s a matter of how they perform on the field.

Ferentz who says Rudock and Beatherd will be even better next season. He says they expect everyone to improve and the guys who have played are expected to use that experience to their advantage to get better.

Iowa closes out spring drills with a scrimmage on Saturday.
