Teen shot in Des Moines dies

May 8, 2014 By Dar Danielson

A teen who was shot early Wednesday morning in Des Moines has died. Police found 19-year-old Ameisha Heard with a gunshot wound to the head after responding to a call just after midnight Wednesday in a neighborhood west of downtown. Heard was taken to a Des Moines hospital in critical condition and police say she has died from her injuries.

Police say Heard was hit by a stray bullet and not the target of the shooting. She is the third homicide victim in the capital city this year.
