Wartburg sweeps Iowa Conference All-Sports titles

May 20, 2014 By Todd Kimm

The culture of winning continues at Wartburg College. For the eighth time in the last 12 years the school has swept the men’s and women’s All-Sports titles in the Iowa Conference. Wartburg teams won or shared a total of ten conference titles this past school year. “It’s great for our athletic department at Wartburg and our college because it’s something that everybody can work on together and all the sports can contribute to it,” Wartburg athletic director Rick Willis says. Willis says winning is contagious from one program to the other as no program wants to be behind the others are be seen as the weak link.

Willis says the ten conference titles are impressive considering the competition in the Iowa Conference. He says the schools in the league place a high value on how athletics can enhance the college experience. “We feel very fortunate to be with such a great group of schools and in such a competitive league, and feel very excited about the success that our programs have been able to have,” Willis says.

Luther finished second in the women’s All-Sports race and Central was second on the men’s side.
