Searchers found the body of a missing Cedar Rapids teen late Tuesday afternoon. Seventeen-year old Logan Blake was swept into a storm sewer Monday evening by floodwaters while playing with a friend.

The friend was pulled into the pipe as he tried to help Blake and traveled over one mile to an outlet at Cedar Lake, where he got out of the water and walked to a hospital with no major injuries.

A news release from the Cedar Rapids Public Safety Department says searchers found Blake’s body in the same lake just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, 75 yards from the shore in three feet of water.

Around 40 city employees and 60 volunteers had searched for several hours trying to find the missing teen.
