Kansas State scored a touchdown and 2 field goals on its first three possessions and took a 13-0 lead over Iowa State before the Cyclones came to life and battled back.
ISU got its offense going and scored on a 17 yard pass from Sam Richardson to Jarvis West with :13 seconds to go in the first quarter to make it a 13-7 ballgame. The drive was helped by a pass interference call as a K-State defender held Cyclone freshman Allen Lazard in the endzone.
ISU then forced a Wildcat punt and Jarvis West returned it 82 yards for a touchdown with 12:37 to go in the first half, the extra point put the Cyclones up 14-13.
