A dramatic finish in the Twin Cities as Jarod Uthoff rescued the Iowa Hawkeyes from another second half collapse. Uthoff hit a shot with 6 seconds to go and it was the game winner in 77-75 victory over Minnesota a game the Hawkeyes led 51-34 in the second half before the Gophers roared back. Uthoff finished with a career high 22 points.

“Uthoff says he tries to stay calm, not getting too high or too low. You make a run you can’t get all nuts…I think we did a good job of that tonight,” Uthoff says.

Iowa led by 11 at the half and built the advantage to 17 before the Gophers scored on 15 of 17 possessions to take a late four point advantage.

“I thought the way we played in the first half, you can’t play much better. But the reality is, you give up a 17 point lead, you go down 4, you come back and win, obviously I’m just thrilled,” Iowa coach Fran McCaffery says. Uthoff scored Iowa’s final seven points as the Hawks outscored the Gophers 8-2 to close the game.

DeAndre Mathieu’s layup at the buzzer was waved off as the Hawks improve to 3-1 in the Big Ten.
