Monticello man pleads guilty to sex charge involving a minor

GavelAn eastern Iowa man has admitted to attempting to have sex with a minor. Nineteen-year-old Colton Rickels of Monticello pled guilty to attempted enticement of a minor. Rickels admitted that in October of 2014 he went on the internet to try and persuade a 12-year-old girl to have sex with him.

Rickels is being held until his sentencing, and will face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, with a possible maximum sentence of life and a $250,000 fine. A sentencing date has not been set.
