Davenport man arrested in connection with heroin overdose death

Crime-sceneAn eastern Iowa man is charged in connection with a drug overdose death. Davenport police responded to a possible overdose at a north Davenport residence a little after 8 on the night of May 1st.

They found 36-year-old Tammy Balzer of Davenport unresponsive. She was transported to a Davenport hospital and died several days later.

A follow-up investigation resulted Tuesday in charges being filed against 28-year-old Kiel Kiwala of Davenport. Kiwala is charged with involuntary manslaughter and two counts of delivery of heroin and is in Scott County Jail.
