YMCA Capital City League basketball features ISU, Drake players

June 17, 2015 By Todd Kimm

ISU-logoPlayers from Iowa State and Drake will highlight the action as the YMCA Capital City League tips off tonight in West Des Moines. League director Ryan Westerkamp says games will be played on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday through July 12th at the Valley Southwoods school.

Westerkamp says the crowds have gotten bigger as the Iowa State program has developed a national identity, especially the last couple of years. Westerkamp says the league gives fans an opportunity to get close to the players they cheer for during the Winter.

“The Iowa State players have been really good as far as taking pictures with fans, signing autographs, so that interaction is there,” Westerkamp says.

Games tonight are at 5:30, 6:45 and eight o’clock.
