dnr-LOGO-thmbThe Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a fish kill of several species along a three mile stretch of the Boone River on the Wright-Hamilton county line near Woolstock. A resident reported the dead fish to the DNR late Tuesday afternoon after finding them around bridge pilings Monday night.

The DNR traced the dead fish up river to north of where Wright County Road C-70 crosses the river. On Wednesday DNR staff found many live fish and dead fish in several stages of decay.

The investigators also found live mussels, a species that is sensitive to pollution.There has been no dollar estimate on the dead fish discovered in the Boone.
